About Us

The Bass Angler/Die Baarshengelaar is a specialist bass fishing magazine, which will be available nation-wide – a bass magazine that emulates the high quality American magazines, something that the local bass industry has been waiting for. The Bass Angler covers all aspects of bass angling in South Africa – from the beginner weekend warrior to the competent social boat and bank anglers, right through to the top echelons of the competitive scene with the fullest support of the SA Bass Angling Association.

Eugene Kruger, an award-winning angling journalist brings a wealth of angling journalism experience to produce a bass fishing publication of international standard. He is also a member of the International Committee of the International Game Fish Association. He has accepted the challenge to take bass fishing media to another level with this venture, bringing with him some 45 years experience in the leisure fishing media industry, now combining print media with the latest electronic publishing wizardry.Joining him as sub-editor is bass fishing tackle and electronic media ‘guru’ Duncan Murfin who in only four years has established himself as a leading authority in bass fishing product knowledge as well as inprint and electronic media. This well-known duo is backed by strong logistical support provided by the print and publishing expertise of the highly experienced company, Annecat Print & Publishers based in Kempton Park. Annecat has since April 2003 taken the specialist freshwater bank angling publication, The Bank Angler/Die Oewerhengelaar to an industry winner with Eugene as its editor. It grew from a quarterly publication to a nationwide monthly magazine that now sells some 19 000 copies and is still growing strongly.
